Ken Miles was a legendary racing driver who, in 1966, played a pivotal role in one of the greatest upsets in motorsports history. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Miles and his co-driver, Denny Hulme, piloted the Ford GT40 Mk II to victory, beating out the dominant Ferrari team that had won the race for the previous six years in a row. Despite facing numerous setbacks and challenges throughout the gruelling race, Miles’s skill and determination behind the wheel helped him and his team secure a historic win, cementing his place in racing lore as one of the all-time greats.
In this limited edition print, Paul Dove perfectly captures the dark atmosphere, when rain clouds start to build at dusk Ken Miles thunders past the pits and a packed grandstand in the now iconic GT40. He would go on to finish second behind the McLaren-Amon driven GT40, securing Ford a conclusive 1-2-3 sweep bringing Ferrari’s dominance to an end.
